More Slaps then You can Handle

You’ll want to stay up to date with this, it’s important to your targeted traffic results.
I received an email from Scott Rewick, the media buying giant for internet traffic sources, and it was really quite enlightening. It really gets to the point of how many ways you will be “slapped around” in your niche marketing online.
Google isn’t the only slapper. More reasons why you shouldn’t be Google focused on everything you do online. Search engine traffic is important as a traffic resource, but there are other ways you can be slapped and taken down.
I’m going to borrow Scott Rewick’s phrases directly here:
The Google Slap – the bad news is, this is getting more common every single day. I’ve definitely been slapped, and I really couldn’t figure out why. It’s most dramatic on affiliate marketers. There’s no doubt Google hates affiliates. In recent times, many say that at least 15,000 affiliates have been slapped. It can vary as to impact. Stage one is your costs on adwords ads jump up. Stage two is your ads simply aren’t shown at all. The quality score goes to zero, and so do the ad displays.
The Facebook Slap – Facebook is getting more arrogant as well. They are known to stop showing your ad without warning. Even though they thought it was fine when they approved it. The good news is, your slap at Facebook can usually be fixed, where at Google, you’ll never figure out what happened.
The FTC Punch – This is a power hit. It’s no slap, it’s a knock out punch. They use Federal Laws which are written to all but guarantee they win. If you don’t believe me, then just go ahead and take them on. Fail to follow their rules, and you can loose your whole business, your personal assets and even get more charges written against you.
The Credit Card Slap – MasterCard™ and Visa™ can put a major block on your business. They can literally decide if you can get paid online. If they say you are a bad guy when it comes to doing e commerce, it can be very difficult to ever get approved again. If you are in their Terminated Merchant File, you have mark that’s painful to remove. You don’t want this – ever.
Can you be slap proof?
Well, for Google it’s almost impossible. For Facebook it’s most likely going to happen, but you can recover fast.
For credit card companies – well, you can be pretty much slap proof, as long as you pay attention to the rules. You are likely to get charge backs here and there, and have other small slaps.
For the FTC – stay alert. This is why, as you grow to more significant size, you gotta have good legal advise.
The bottom line is, if you market online you are a target in one way or another. The rules change without notice, and so do the levels of enforcement.
Bottom line is read the rules.
Read them yourself.
Understand them.
If what you’re doing doesn’t feel so great, then you probably need to check it out against the rules.
For things that can put you in jail, you better check a lawyer’s opinion, not your mastermind group.
Play by the rules!
