The first thing everyone needs before anything can happen at their online store, or website is a very select and highly targeted customer — online it’s called targeted traffic, or something similar.
However, I know from the school of hard knocks, that tons of targeted traffic doesn’t magically turn into profits if you you don’t have good sales copy. You must have good sales copy to sell any of your products or affiliate offers.
The single most important part of your sales copy is — and you’ve should of heard this before —
The Headline…
Let’s look quickly at 3 incredibly awesome tips to ensure you can create headlines that really work.
First, before the 3 tips, let’s make it clear — the purpose of the headline is to practically force your reader to read more of what ever you have written. In sales terms, to read your copy.
To get your targeted customer to buy anything at all, you need to keep the customer reading all the way to the end of the copy so they will buy whatever you’re selling.
The headline is the the magic wand that gets the reader hooked.
Tip #1
Put a benefit in the headline! Easy to say, not always so easy to think of a way to do this in just a few words. However, it is much easier to do it you have all the benefits listed out for you.
Then you can simply choose the one that you think is the greatest benefit. Put this one in your headline. This immediately tells your perspective customer why the heck they should be interested at all. They know instantly why.
Tip #2
You must have something in the headline keeping the reader interested enough to keep reading. Usually something that stabs at their curiosity. Something like promising to do something in the headline.
One example might be: “Are you ready to discover the secret to losing 10 pounds in just 7 days?” This benefit and promise will, at a minimum, get the reader to skim your copy to find what you really mean.
Tip #3
Finally, don’t over promise! Promising too much is a major mistake. Talk about hype that kills, this will kill your copy. I’ve written some reviews that I was really excited about, but to the reader, it seemed to over promise, and never got a sale.
Overly outrageous claims generally have the effect of turning the reader away. They will actually leave your site or page and never read another word because you already made it way too good to be true. Your headline must be believable.
Use these 3 headline creating tips as the bases for all of your sales copy headlines. It is the hook that grabs your reader, and makes them want to read more. If done correctly, it really has the effect of psychologically forcing them to read more.
There you have it, 3 amazingly awesome tips of how to write sales copy headlines.
